The medical institution was founded more than 100 years ago by the Friarly Order of the Brothers of Mercy. Since the hospital's foundation, the hospital staff have not only been able to keep up with the latest medical developments, but also have been able to remain faithful to Christian core values of empathy and compassion. The hospital is located in a picturesque area of Munich within walking distance of Nymphenburg Palace. The clinic collaborates with the Technical University of Munich, forming a partnership which facilitates the introduction of progressive diagnostic techniques and therapeutic innovations into clinical practice.
The clinic's main fields are general and abdominal surgery, oncology, gastroenterology, urology, pulmonology, cardiology, hepatology, traumatology, orthopaedics, and palliative medicine.
The institution includes several interdisciplinary centres. The Centre for Dietology, opened jointly with the German Academy of Nutrition, is particularly well known. More than 1000 highly qualified employees treat more than 45,000 patients annually.
